Beach Ball

A little beach ball (make circle with hands)
A bigger beach ball (expand hands)
A great big beach ball (expand hands)
I see, now let’s count them
Are you ready?
One, two, three!

The Fish in the Sea (Tune: Wheels on the Bus) (with scarves)

The fish in the sea go swish, swish, swish (wave scarf side to side)
Swish, swish, swish
Swish, swish, swish
The fish in the sea go swish, swish, swish
All day long

(The dolphins in the sea swim round and round)
(The sand in the sea drifts down, down, down)
(The waves on the sea go up and down)

Five Little Ocean Friends

Five little ocean friends on the ocean floor,
The starfish walks away, now there are four.
Four little ocean friends living in the sea,
The crab slides away, now there are three.
Three little ocean friends, looking for a clue,
“Glub, glub” says the lobster, now there are two.
Two little ocean friends, not having much fun,
Off swam the seahorse, now there is one.
One little octopus sad and all alone,
Back swims the starfish, back swims the crab,
Back swims the lobster, back swims the seahorse
And they played in the sea foam, safe at home.

Water, Water

Water, water everywhere (stretch arms out)
On my face and on my hair (touch face, then hair)
On my fingers, on my toes (wiggle fingers, touch toes)
Water, water on my nose (touch nose)

How it Went: I work in a town right near the water and families visit the beaches often. This storytime went over really well with them because it resonated and children were able to make a connection between the stories and their own lives.
