Itsy Bitsy Spider
The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again
To make this class song more interactive and fun try using a spider puppet or sing it again using “the great big spider.” When using a spider puppet I always tell the children that I’m going to introduce them to a very nice friend of mine. The spider puppet then comes out and is introduced to the children and might even shake hands. The kids get a kick out of this and it helps the children who might otherwise be scared of the puppet.
Spider on the Floor
You can either sing this song or play a recording. I personally use “Spider on the Floor” by Bill & Linda Seaberg. Since this is a longer song I have included the link to the lyrics.

How it Went: I performed this storytime several times (at the library and out in the community) and changed the books depending on the age group. All ages really enjoyed the spider web flannel board. Each child received 1 bug and brought it to the “spider’s web” when I said there bug.
