Mr. Lou’s Mustache

There once lived a man named Mr. Lou,
He had a mustache that grew and grew and grew
On Monday it was as tiny as his nose
On Tuesday it was as wide as his smile
On Wednesday it stretched as far as his ears
On Thursday it was as long as his arms
But on Friday Mr. Loud caught the flu… ACHOOO
And off went the mustache into the air as it flew, flew, flew

Charley Needs a Haircut

Charley needs a haircut (make scissors with fingers)
Doesn’t want to go (shake head no)
Even though the barber has 3 chairs in a row (hold up 3 fingers)
1 for Charley’s father
1 for brother Ken
and a chair for Charley
Will he go or has he been?

Haircut Craft

I had a really hard time coming up with a craft for this storytime. Parents often don’t think to let their children use scissors and practice their motor skills. For this craft all I did was print a face out on cardstock, then children went to done giving it a haircut. Some children made bald friends and others gave sophisticated haircuts. A proud 4 year old showed me that his craft had the same hairstyle as him (faux hawk).

How it Went: “Mustache Baby” was a huge hit with the parents and children. I did have a grandmother who wasn’t the biggest fan of the “jail” aka crib and made sure to loudly announce that the baby wasn’t actually in jail.
