MINI REVIEW: I really liked this book! It was a cute, fun, easy to read fantasy. I was intrigued the whole way through. Personally I would have liked more world building and back story, hopefully that will happen in the next books.

Disclaimer: this is NOT romantasy. This is more of a YA fantasy novel with some romantic aspects. Don’t go into this book thinking you’re getting ACOTAR level romantasy. With that being said, it was a really good book and I can’t wait for the second one to be published this summer!

I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy recently and I’m not mad about it.

Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

While I enjoyed this book I wasn’t blown away. Expiration Dates has a really interesting premise and likable characters. I couldn’t help but root for each person in the book. The flashbacks and the surprises along the way helped keep my attention. I found the book to be more surface level than expected. I thought there would be more internal inspections. Also, no explanation is ever given for why she receives the expiration dates. Personally I would have liked that.

If you’re a fan of Rebecca Serle and magical realism you should check out this book!

Thriller Thursday: Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera ⭐️⭐️💫

Mini Review: I didn’t love or hate this book. It kept my attention and was a quick read. I enjoyed the podcast elements and didn’t guess the ending. I also liked Lucy’s sarcasm and wit. It just didn’t stand out to me or blow me away. Overall a decent thriller. I’ve heard only great things about this book so take my unpopular opinion with a grain of salt.

I’ve been going to @beem.glastonbury.ct for the past month and it’s been amazing! The red light therapy is so relaxing and has really helped my skin. And the infrared sauna has been great for sweating it out while reading. I love having this me time!

What does your me time look like?

For me it’s pedicures, the sauna, walks and bubble baths 🛁

@kristinhannahauthor does it again! She is such a phenomenal writer. Her books instantly hook me and I need to read them as quickly as possible. I honestly didn’t know too much about the Vietnam War before reading this book. Her book made me want to do my own research on it. The Women was a very interesting read and it was certainly eye opening. I can’t recommend this book (and her other ones) enough!

Mini review: I wanted to love this book but it wasn’t for me. Nothing stood out to me in this book to separate it from other romance novels. I listened to it a month ago and am already struggling to remember the details. Personally I preferred the first book in the series, the second book didn’t have the charm I found in the first one. Everyone else in the buddy read loved it so don’t let my review persuade you!
