Description: “Wealthy Washington suburbanites Marissa and Matthew Bishop seem to have it all—until Marissa is unfaithful. Beneath their veneer of perfection is a relationship riven by work and a lack of intimacy. She wants to repair things for the sake of their eight-year-old son and because she loves her husband. Enter Avery Chambers.

Avery is a therapist who lost her professional license. Still, it doesn’t stop her from counseling those in crisis, though they have to adhere to her unorthodox methods. And the Bishops are desperate.

When they glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.”

Review: I’m going to start this review off with some honesty… I didn’t like “The Wife Between Us.” Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen published “The Wife Between Us” in 2018 and it became a best seller but I wasn’t the biggest fan (even though everyone else I know loved it). For this reason I was a little hesitant to read “The Golden Couple.” The description of the book intrigued me but what really sold me was the cover, I’m a sucker for a good book cover. I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover but I’m happy I did because I loved this book!

I wasn’t the biggest fan of any of the characters in “The Golden Couple” but I don’t think you’re supposed to be. All of the characters are flawed and secretive, it’s hard to know who is in the right and who’s in the wrong. Even though they weren’t characters I liked I did enjoy them and became intrigued by their lives, secrets and their pasts.

It’s hard to do but this book kept me guessing every step of the way. There were so many twists and turns, I never knew where the book was going. There were a few moments of frustration because there are so many crazy things happening all at once but I quickly got over that. One night I even vented to my husband because for once I couldn’t predict the ending of a book. The authors give you so many details and in the moment it’s hard to know what is and isn’t relevant. In the end it all comes together nicely and finally makes sense. No cliffhangers or unanswered questions here! I don’t want to write a too detailed review because I want everyone to feel the frustration and confusion I felt. My main complaint is how nicely everything gets wrapped up in a very short amount of time. I would have preferred if the revelations spanned over the book more and not just the last 30 pages or so.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed their previous books and if you enjoy a good suspense/mystery novel that keeps you guessing.
