Children’s Programs

Brick Building Challenge – Children in 1st – 6th grade were given a LEGO® brick challenge and a set time to complete it in.

Coffee Filter Leaves – Families celebrated Fall by creating colorful leaves using coffee filters and markers.

Countdown to New Year 2014 & 2015 – Children of all ages were invited to enjoy some dancing, crafts and refreshments while we counted to 12 noon.

Easter Egg Hunt – Children birth to 5 years old play games, make a craft, listen to a story and hunt for Easter eggs around the Children’s Department.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid – To celebrate the new release of a book in the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series by Jeff Kinney we hosted a drop-in party for kids of all ages.

Dr. Seuss Craft – Children of all ages made a Cat in the Hat mask to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday!

Halloween Parade – 2015 & 2018: Trick or treat! Children came to the library dressed in their Halloween costumes to make a craft, hear a story, play a game and trick or treat throughout the library.

Fancy Nancy Soiree – What better way to celebrate Fancy Nancy turning 10 than by having a birthday soiree; filled with games, a craft and cupcake decorating.

LEGO Checkout Challenge – Children were given 3 LEGO bricks and their picture taken every time they checked out a book.

Monster Masks – Children of all ages were invited to drop in and make their own masks using paper plates, yarn, pom poms, cut out shapes and a variety of other items.

Pokemon Party – Children of all ages completed a Pokemon Scavenger Hunt to receive a cool pin and made a Pokeball craft!

Polar Express Pajama Party – Happy Holidays! Children came in their PJs to enjoy snacks, presents, play winter and Christmas related games and to listen to “The Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg.

Salt Painting – Children used salt and watercolors to create a raised pictures.

St. Patrick’s Day Activities – This drop in St. Patrick’s Day party was for children of all ages. There was a shamrock stamp craft, four leaf clover hunt and Play-Doh St. leprechaun mats.

Superhero Training Course – Children made a mash, arm cuffs, created a Superhero name and went through an obstacle course to receive a Superhero certificate.

Thanksgiving Party – This drop in Thanksgiving party was for children of all ages. There was an obstacle course, craft and story.

Teen Programs

Blind Date with a Book – YA books are covered in brown paper and borrowed without any knowledge of the title.

Candy Sushi – Teens created 3 different types of “sushi” using a variety of candy.

DIY Pencils – Teens customized pencils using nail polish and washi tape.

Taste Test Challenge – Teens were blindfolded and tasted a variety of food, they then had to guess that it was.

Teen Cupcake Wars – Teens are given a time limit and a variety of materials to decorate cupcakes.

Wreck the Library – Teens explored the inner workings of technology by taking it apart.
