Happy publication week to Falling for Gage by Mia Sheridan 💙

Archer’s Voice is one of my all time favorite books so it’s safe to say that my expectations were high for Falling for Gage. I think for that reason it fell a little flat for me.

Things I liked:
- Dual POVs: it was nice to see the perspectives of both Gage and Rory
- Character growth: the characters did a lot of self reflecting and discovery throughout the books
- Father storyline: I enjoyed Rory’s quest to figure out who her father is
- Past characters: it was nice to be reintroduced to characters from Sheridan’s previous books

Things I didn’t like:
- No emotional connection: I did feel a connection with this book. I expected more of an emotional tug
- Incest: while there is no actual incest I struggled with this part. Even though there’s a possibility that they might be half siblings they still think of each other in a sexual way. It creeped me out

Overall it was a decent romance novel with a little bit of mystery and intrigue.

I started this book a few weeks ago while on vacation (swipe for some vacay photos) and haven’t really had the time to pick it back up. I’m hoping I can finish it this week!

This is my first Abby Jimenez book! Who’s an author you’ve been meaning to read for a while now?

REVIEW: Darling Girls was an interesting book. I enjoyed reading each characters POV, especially the therapy sessions. Some of the main characters are morally gray but you can’t help but like them. Jessica is an over the top home organizer who steals medication from her clients. Norah is an aggressive, sometimes violent, dog mom. And Alicia is a social worker with a secret crush on a female coworker. It was interesting to read about their traumatic upbringing and see how that was reflected in their adult lives.

The story unfolded nicely and at a good pace. It kept me intrigued from start to finish but it was certainly a difficult topic to read about. The last chapter left me speechless!

I recommend this book to fans of Sally Hepworth and dual timeline mysteries.

MINI REVIEW: I really liked this book! It was a cute, fun, easy to read fantasy. I was intrigued the whole way through. Personally I would have liked more world building and back story, hopefully that will happen in the next books.

Disclaimer: this is NOT romantasy. This is more of a YA fantasy novel with some romantic aspects. Don’t go into this book thinking you’re getting ACOTAR level romantasy. With that being said, it was a really good book and I can’t wait for the second one to be published this summer!

While I enjoyed this book I wasn’t blown away. Expiration Dates has a really interesting premise and likable characters. I couldn’t help but root for each person in the book. The flashbacks and the surprises along the way helped keep my attention. I found the book to be more surface level than expected. I thought there would be more internal inspections. Also, no explanation is ever given for why she receives the expiration dates. Personally I would have liked that.

If you’re a fan of Rebecca Serle and magical realism you should check out this book!

Mini Review: I didn’t love or hate this book. It kept my attention and was a quick read. I enjoyed the podcast elements and didn’t guess the ending. I also liked Lucy’s sarcasm and wit. It just didn’t stand out to me or blow me away. Overall a decent thriller. I’ve heard only great things about this book so take my unpopular opinion with a grain of salt.

I’ve been going to @beem.glastonbury.ct for the past month and it’s been amazing! The red light therapy is so relaxing and has really helped my skin. And the infrared sauna has been great for sweating it out while reading. I love having this me time!

What does your me time look like?

For me it’s pedicures, the sauna, walks and bubble baths 🛁

@kristinhannahauthor does it again! She is such a phenomenal writer. Her books instantly hook me and I need to read them as quickly as possible. I honestly didn’t know too much about the Vietnam War before reading this book. Her book made me want to do my own research on it. The Women was a very interesting read and it was certainly eye opening. I can’t recommend this book (and her other ones) enough!
